This summer of 2006 the San Bernardino County Tourism Development Council (SBCTDC) will open its pioneering Route 66 Gallery of Tech Signs (Route 66 GOT Signs) in Rialto featuring its red, white and blue iconic Route 66 shield (above) illuminated via innovative new high-tech lighting systems for the sign industry. The Gallery will display these prototype lit Route 66 signs so that its members and the public can preview these emerging, high-tech lighting systems, then purchase them to beautify their homes and businesses, thereby strengthening the red-white-blue Route 66 brand. The annual Route 66 Corridor Cruise and year round sightseeing will also benefit as these new high-tech Route 66 signs begin augmenting the present neon Route 66 signs SBCTDC'S members display in their businesses along our inland California Route 66 Corridor in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. The Gallery will also display high-tech American flags in recognition of US 66's pioneering role in enabling travel across the western three-fourths of the nation. As more lit American flags glow within our first twelve (12) communities this portion of the historic highway will increasingly become "The patriotic Route 66 Corridor."
The Rialto Gallery will also host a gift shop to offer high-tech, neon and regular Route 66 signs and American flags for sale. In the interim the nonprofit Corporation carries standard Route 66 merchandise, including apparel, guide books, maps, highway signs and novelties, plus its neon Route 66 signs and neon American flags for sale on the web and for customer pickup of orders by arrangement at Express Cash, 2418-D Foothill Blvd., LaVerne, California. For further information on the Gallery, the annual cruise or to order contact 909-383-1256 (phone and fax).
